By bringing such incredible support to our first Massive Publishing Kickstarter campaign, you ended our 2023 in the best way we could have ever imagined. The success of Sean Gordon Murphy’s vision for the legendary Zorro was definitely the highlight of our year. Thank YOU again!
Now in 2024, it’s our turn to give back to you! Next week, we will be sending you the first digital issue of Zorro: Man of the Dead. Starting from there, you will receive one digital issue every month until the completion of the full graphic novel. We have partnered with the Omnibus platform to deliver access to all the digital rewards you will receive for backing the campaign in one easy to access location. On October 10th, Instructions on how to claim your rewards will be emailed directly to the address associated with your Kickstarter account from Omnibus, so keep an eye out and make sure to check your spam folder just in case.
As you may have noticed we pushed back our BackerKit surveys to allow everyone the time to focus on family and friends during the holiday season. With the holidays now firmly in the rear view we are preparing to send out access to your Backerkit surveys where you’ll be able to access additional products, revise shipping information and keep up to date with reward fulfillment. We will be making limited quantities available of some of the variants and reward tiers offered during the campaign including some of the late campaign add-ons such as the “video chat with Sean Murphy.” We have opted to do the BackerKit process in two steps; the first, a window of time to adjust your order and add on products that will run from January 'till we begin fulfillment (while supplies last) and the second step being a shipping fee collection that will happen just before we begin shipping rewards to ensure the most accurate pricing and delivery.
(note: For international backers, we have partnered with EasyShip to collect your shipping/duty fees and ensure there aren’t any issues getting your rewards to wherever you call home.)

This Monday, December 11th, will be the final day to pre-order Zorro: Man of the Dead #1 at your local comic shop. We have twelve unique covers that will be releasing exclusively in comic book stores this January. To ensure a shop near you will have the covers you are looking for, swing by your local comic retailer and ask them to add your copy before Diamond's upcoming final order cutoff.
In addition to those special retailer variants that were unlocked during this Kickstarter campaign, Zorro: Man of the Dead has more comic shop exclusive cover designs that many of you may have missed. This includes an original main cover by series writer-artist Sean Gordon Murphy himself, a hyper realistic motorcycle stunt piece by Lee Bermejo (Lex Luthor: Man of Steel), an homage to Jim Lee’s Batman by Michael Calero (Quested, Alpha Betas), a movie poster homage by Matteo Scalera (Batman, Daredevil, Deadpool, Black Science), and a beautiful watercolor design by Dustin Nguyen (Descender, Image Comics).

We did it! Today our campaign for Sean Murphy’s ZORRO: MAN OF THE DEAD officially came to a successfully funded close. From everyone at Massive Publishing, Zorro Productions Inc, and Sean Murphy’s team, we thank you so much for the unbelievable support you’ve all shown for this project. From day one, when we hit our campaign goal in under thirty minutes, to our last day when we reached over $300,000, it has been an absolute thrill to watch this campaign’s progress and we cannot overstate our gratitude to each and every one of you who backed the campaign.
Thanks to your pledges, we reached another Stretch Goal in the final hours of the project and we can now include a FREE copy of Humberto Ramos’ cover with all physical reward tiers. Over the course of the last 30 days, your generous support made it possible to unlock the following stretch goals for the crowdfunding campaign…
As an additional show of our appreciation, we also made the Black & White version of Sean Murphy’s connecting cover available for add-on (if you missed it today you can add it on during the BackerKit survey process).
UNLOCKED RETAILER VARIANTS
In addition, Massive added special variants exclusively available to comic book stores at every milestone along the way. By pledging to this campaign for Zorro: Man of the Dead, you unlocked new ordering opportunities for all stores and these special covers are now available to order through your local shop! Retailers across North America were able to be involved in the campaign in an exciting new way and we encourage backers of the project to find a store in your area to collect all of these great covers…
Pre-orders through your local comic shop went live online October 20th with the first issue releasing in stores January 10th, 2024. If you don’t have a regular comic shop, you can find a participating retailer through comicshoplocator.com!
Now that the pledge stage of the campaign has concluded, we have begun the process of working with BackerKit to start collecting backer’s fulfillment information. You will receive your initial survey from BackerKit in the next two weeks and have the opportunity to add on additional copies if you so choose. We will immediately begin the process of producing all of the products listed in this campaign. You can expect to receive your entire pledge as one shipment around June/July 2024, after we have completed the retail release of the standard limited series. Digital rewards will be sent monthly between January and May for those who don’t want to wait for the collected editions to be shipped to read this exciting new story.
